One of the frustrations of blogging is that you never know how well your blog is doing, at least in relation to others. In the absence of any real ranking device (there is this commendable effort, but I don't think it's accurate), one has to rely on reputation, relative comments or Technorati for any sort of perspective. Even with technorati, however, the ranking is based on every blog in the world, so it would take quite a lot of scrolling to find the Irish blogs, way at the bottom. With this in mind - for my own interest, more than anything else - I have decided to rank the Irish blogs on Technorati - the Top 25, at least. So here they are. The numbers, for anyone unfamiliar with how the system works, represent the amount of sites that link to the particular blog. Of course, this system of ranking is very flawed for many reasons, not least the mistakes that I have probably made, but it imparts some sort of perspective.

Honourable mention: Biffsniff Cartoons
*Donncha's blog, according to our helpful commentators, has such a stratospherically high amount of hits for seemingly not completely fair reasons. Donncha is the developer of something on Wordpress, so every Wordpress account links to his own site or something. Despite the fact that the blog does seem popular, and indeed of high quality, I'll leave it out of the official rankings, just so the rest of us aren't unfairly overpowered.
Of course, unless I am missing something, in which case I have just wasted a lot of time, the only way of doing what I have just done is manually (i.e. pick a blog you think has a lot of links, type it into Technorati, and hope you don't miss any). Which means, obviously, that I've missed a fair few. So the challenge is yours, what have I missed? Let's try knock Disillusioned Lefty off that list!
